Meditation

Meditation at Cupcare draws from yogic and Ayurvedic traditions — practical, secular where you need it to be, and rooted in centuries of observation about the mind.

The Seven Chakras

In yogic philosophy, chakras are energy centres along the spine that correspond to physical, emotional and spiritual functions.

  • Muladhara (Root): safety, stability, the body.
  • Svadhisthana (Sacral): creativity, sensuality, reproductive health.
  • Manipura (Solar Plexus): willpower, digestion, self-worth.
  • Anahata (Heart): love, compassion, connection.
  • Vishuddha (Throat): voice, truth, expression.
  • Ajna (Third Eye): intuition, clarity, perspective.
  • Sahasrara (Crown): awareness, connection to something larger.

The Soul

Across traditions, the soul is described as the still, observing part of you that watches thoughts, feelings and roles come and go. Meditation is not about creating that stillness — it's about becoming quiet enough to notice it was always there.

Practices we teach: silent breath awareness, self-inquiry (who is aware?), loving-kindness meditation, and short daily contemplation.

The Five Elements (Pancha Mahabhuta)

Yogic and Ayurvedic thought sees the body and world as combinations of five elements. Working with them is a simple way to feel more balanced.

  • Earth (Prithvi): stability — bare feet on the ground, root vegetables, grounding poses.
  • Water (Jala): flow — hydration, warm baths, fluid movement.
  • Fire (Agni): transformation — sun exposure, warm meals, digestive care.
  • Air (Vayu): movement — breathwork, walks, decluttering.
  • Space (Akasha): awareness — silence, meditation, unscheduled time.

A short daily practice — even ten minutes — is more valuable than an occasional long session. Start small, keep going.
