Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy — known in different traditions as hijama, ba guan or wet/dry cupping — uses gentle suction on the skin to draw stagnant blood and lymph toward the surface. The result is improved local circulation, reduced muscle tension and a soothing parasympathetic response.
Styles we practise
- Dry cupping: stationary cups placed on tight muscle bands.
- Sliding cupping: oiled skin, moving cups to release fascia.
- Wet cupping (hijama): minute superficial pricks to release small amounts of stagnant blood — performed only by trained hands, in sterile conditions.
- Flash cupping: quick pump-and-release for sensitive skin or first-time visitors.
Where it helps
- Menstrual cramps, lower-back heaviness and PMS-related fatigue.
- Neck, shoulder and upper-back tension from desk work.
- Sluggish digestion, bloating and post-meal sleepiness.
- Recovery after intense workouts or long travel.
- Headaches driven by muscular or postural strain.
What a session looks like
A full session runs 40–60 minutes: a short intake, warm-oil massage, cup placement for 5–15 minutes, then rest. Circular marks are normal, painless, and fade within 3–7 days — they are not bruises.
Who should avoid it
Cupping is not advised during pregnancy over the abdomen, on broken skin, or for people on strong blood thinners. Always share your medical history before the first session.
